The firm was organized as a partnership in August 1976. It has continually served the Westmoreland County and surrounding areas since that time, although several partners have joined and left the organization until it evolved into its present state as Benchmark Engineering & Construction Company, Inc.
We are licensed to conduct engineering business in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and New York; and surveying in Pennsylvania.
Membership in the National, State, and Local Society of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, Construction Specifications Institute, and Professional Engineers in Private Practice, enable us to keep abreast of current activities in both technical and political areas.
It is important to point out that one of our strongest assets lies in our ability to provide responsive personal service and attention at prices indicative of a small company with the professional quality of a large firm.
Our experience on subdivisions, many private property surveys and numerous construction stake out jobs has provided a substantial file of expertise in the area of boundary surveys. Construction survey experience includes utility line layout and highway stake out, landfill certification surveys, building column anchor bolt verification, parking lot and curb stake out, and work with power plant construction performing such activities as photogrammetric control, cross sections for site earthwork quantities, residential and industrial building layout, municipal storm and sanitary sewer layout, road layout, and cooling tower vertical and horizontal control.
Additional specialized services are provided by subcontracting through our strong working relationships with firms engaged in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, architectural design and soils/geotechnical services.
The Company also provides a wide range of engineering services to numerous private clients including: Property surveys; Sewage planning, permitting, and facilities design; Site planning including E&S Control and Stormwater Management Plans; Subdivisions; Stream Encroachment Permits; Floodplain Analysis; Dam and Bridge permits and inspections.
